The basics

What is Trezor Suite, in plain English

It is the software half of a two-part system. The hardware wallet is the vault; Suite is the window you look through.

A Trezor hardware wallet is a small device that stores the private keys to your cryptocurrency. On its own it has a tiny screen and a couple of buttons — hardly a comfortable way to manage a portfolio. Trezor Suite is the companion application published by the same manufacturer, SatoshiLabs, that gives you a proper interface: balances, charts, accounts, transaction history, fee selection, exchange partners, firmware updates and device settings.

The important part is the split of responsibilities. Suite does all the browsing and preparing; the device does all the signing. When you send funds, Suite builds the transaction, the hardware wallet shows you the destination address and amount on its own screen, and nothing is broadcast until you physically confirm it. Someone who compromises your computer still cannot move your coins without you approving the transaction on the device.

What Suite is built to do well

  • Understand a multi-asset portfolio — total value, allocation and account-level detail, all in one place.
  • Move funds carefully — receive addresses, fee levels, RBF-style fee adjustments where the network supports them, and on-device verification.
  • Look after the device — firmware updates with signature checks, PIN, passphrase, backup verification and wipe.
  • Stay private by choice — optional Tor routing, coin control, discreet mode and your own node as a backend.

What Suite is not

It is not an exchange and not a custodian: nobody at the manufacturer can freeze, recover or refund your coins. It is not a backup service either — the recovery seed is your only key to the funds, and losing it means losing access. And it is not a bot that trades for you; anything of that sort lives in third-party services, not in Suite.

Never type your recovery seed into a website or app

Your recovery seed is the master key to your funds. No genuine wallet app, website or support agent will ever ask you to enter it — if a page asks for it, leave immediately.

Why a hardware wallet plus Suite changes the threat model

Most crypto loss is not clever cryptography being broken — it is people being tricked, or keys sitting on an internet-connected machine. This setup is designed around that reality.

  • Private keys are generated and stored on the device, never in the app.

Supported assets

One app for a fairly wide spread of networks

Bitcoin and Ethereum are the usual starting points, but Suite also handles a long list of other networks and tokens.

You will find Bitcoin, Litecoin, Bitcoin Cash, Ethereum with ERC-20 tokens, Ethereum Classic, XRP, Cardano, Dogecoin, and Solana with SPL tokens among the supported assets, along with other networks that have been added over time. What appears in your installation can depend on your device model and firmware, so treat the manufacturer's own list as the definitive answer.

What is Trezor Suite?

Is Trezor Suite safe?

Suite is built so the sensitive part — your private keys — never leaves the hardware device, and every outgoing transaction has to be approved on the device screen. That removes most remote attacks, but it does not remove the human ones: fake download pages, seed-phrase phishing and malware that swaps addresses. Install only from the official manufacturer page, verify addresses on the device screen, and never type your recovery seed into a website or app.

Does Trezor Suite require an account or an email address?

No. There is no sign-up, no email address and no login. Accounts and balances are derived from your device's keys, and the labels you attach to addresses and accounts are stored locally on your own computer rather than on a server.

What is the difference between the desktop app and the web app?

The desktop app is a standalone application for Windows, macOS and Linux and is the more complete and more commonly recommended option. The web app runs in a Chromium-based browser and talks to the device over WebUSB or WebHID, which is convenient on a computer where you cannot install software. Both are built from the same open-source codebase; the desktop build is the one to choose for everyday use.

The desktop app is the one you want most days

Suite exists in a few shapes: a desktop application, a browser version, and mobile companions. They are not interchangeable.

The desktop app for Windows, macOS and Linux is the fullest experience and the sensible default. The web app at suite.trezor.io runs in Chromium-based browsers and talks to the device over WebUSB or WebHID — useful on a borrowed or locked-down computer, but it depends on a browser that can hand over USB access. Mobile companions are mostly view-only, which is fine for glancing at balances and not much else.

Whichever you pick, the rule is the same: install it from the official page. Fake "Suite" downloads are one of the most common ways people lose funds.

A link is not proof

Search ads, sponsored results and lookalike domains are routinely used to hand out malicious wallet software. Type the address yourself or use a bookmark you created after verifying it.
